LA GUARINA
Wine Identity
A wine born from a recovered field-blend vineyard in Alborea, combining two different vinifications to express varietal diversity, tradition and the personal character of the project.
Tasting Notes
Deep red in colour. Aromas of ripe red and black fruits, with floral and spicy notes and an earthy background. Balanced on the palate, with good freshness, gentle texture and a long, harmonious finish.
Vineyard Data
Surface area: 1.4 ha
Vine age: 60 years
Location: Alborea
Varieties: Predominantly Bobal and Monastrell, alongside other traditional local red and white varieties (Moscatel, Macabeo, Coloraillo, Moravia Agria, among others)
Winemaking
Due to differing ripening times, each variety is vinified separately. Bobal, hand-harvested, is vinified using carbonic maceration in a small 2,000-litre stainless steel tank. Monastrell is then also hand-harvested and vinified traditionally in the same tank format, followed by ageing for 4 months in 500-litre oak barrels. Both wines are then blended in equal parts.
The Vineyard
An old bush-trained vineyard, representative of the area’s traditional parcels, where multiple grape varieties coexist. A piece of viticultural heritage that has been recovered and reinterpreted through a respectful and differentiated winemaking approach.
Did You Know…?
La Guarina is a traditional term used in Castilla-La Mancha to refer to the smallest of a litter. This wine was conceived as a personal project, paying tribute both to family origins and to the recovery of a vineyard that was on the verge of disappearing.
